As part of efforts to strengthen parliamentary education among the young, the Department of Public Engagement has intensified its school outreach programme across the Greater Accra Region. The outreach team visited Leading Stars Academy (Tetegu), Winner’s Grace School and Top Ridge School (Santa Maria), where pupils and teachers were introduced to the “Parliament & You” educational series and the Quarterly and Annual Quiz Competition. Students were educated on what “Parliament & You” educational series is and how to participate in the quiz competition. They also had the opportunity to interact with the team by asking questions about Parliament and the initiative. “Parliament & You” educational series is a weekly page in the Junior Graphic newspaper for children aged 4–15. It helps young readers learn about Parliament and democracy through easy-to-understand stories, colourful illustrations, fun facts, quizzes, puzzles, and other exciting activities. Parliament & You is published every Wednesday in the Junior Graphic Newspaper.
