PARLIAMENT ADOPTS FINANCE COMMITTEE REPORT ON E-COMMERCE VAT MONITORING AND COLLECTION SYSTEM

Parliament has adopted the report of the Finance Committee to engage principal Consult Limited to develop, implement and deploy cross-border E-commerce Value Added Tax (VAT) monitoring and collection system for the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA). Presenting the report of the Finance Committee to the House, the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Isaac Adongo noted that the proposed system is expected to improve the monitoring of cross-border transactions and ensure efficient VAT collection. Hon. Adongo also highlighted the importance of strengthening revenue mobilization and enhancing tax compliance in the digital economy. The Deputy Minister for Finance, Hon. Thomas Ampem Nyarko noted that the successful implementation of the system will depend on effective collaboration among several public and private institutions.
