SEC Engages Committee Members on Public Finance Law

The Director-General of the Securities & Exchange Commission and Former Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Hon. James Klutse Avedzi has stated that expenditure management is essential to ensure transparency and accountability in public finance. According to him the Imprest System is regulated to manage petty cash expenditures effectively, stressing that this framework safeguards public resources and promotes responsible financial management. Hon. Klutse Avedzi said this when he facilitated a capacity building workshop for members of the Committee on Public Administration and State Interest. The Members were taken through topics on the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921): Strengthening Parliamentary Oversight of State-Owned Enterprises and State Interest Institutions through effective financial scrutiny, accountability, and strategic communication. The workshop aimed at empowering members to effectively scrutinize audited financial statements of State Interest Institutions and State-Owned Enterprises.
