COMMITTEE ON ROADS AND TRANSPORTATION REVIEWS ACCRA-KUMASI EXPRESSWAY CONTRACT

The Committee on Roads & Transportation, chaired by Hon. Mensah Adjei, has engaged the Leadership of the Committee on Finance to review the Contract Agreement for the construction of the Accra–Kumasi Expressway. The proposed expressway is expected to significantly reduce travel time and costs, create employment opportunities, and generate revenue for the state through monetization. The Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwame Governs Agbodza, underscored the national importance of road infrastructure development and expressed strong support for the project. Additionally, the Minister for Finance, Hon. Cassiel Ato Forson, confirmed that the project will receive full government funding under the Big Push Infrastructure Programme and is expected to be completed within three years. The Chairman of the Committee reaffirmed the committee’s full commitment to the project, describing it as a priority initiative and assured all stakeholders of the committee’s support to ensure its timely commencement.
