LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT MINISTER ANSWERS PARLIAMENTARY QUESTIONS

The Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Hon .Joseph Yieleh Chireh said in Parliament today that an amount of GHC 25878.96 was spent on the construction of a clinic at Mami Krobo in the Kwahu North District.

He was answering a question asked by the Member for Afram Plains South; Hon. Raphael Kofi Ahaligah who wanted to know how much was given by the European Union for construction of a clinic at Mami Krobo through the Kwahu North District Assembly, and when work on the clinic would be completed.

The Minister explained that out of the total amount used for construction of the clinic, an amount of GHC19,409.22 was contributed by the European Union.

He added that the clinic was completed commissioned by the District Chief Executive Hon. Charles Evans Apreku on 9th September, 2009.

The MP for Bimbilla, Hon. Dominic Nitiwul also wanted to know from the Minister how many Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives have renovated their official bungalows, and what the total cost of all renovations including cost of each unit or bungalow was.

The Minister reminded Hon. Dominic Nitiwul that as per the Rules of the House regarding written questions, his question has been answered through a letter addressed to him earlier adding that, Hon. Dominic Nitiwul cannot ask supplementary questions orally on the Floor of Parliament if he is not satisfied with the written answers.

The Minister advised that for Hon. Nitiwul’s question to be answered on the Floor of Parliament, he should file an oral question which will also allow other Members uestion which will allowto discuss and ask supplementary questions about the matter.
