GOVERNMENT WILL IMPLEMENT SINGLE SPINE SALARY STRUCTURE IN 2010.

The Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor who presented the 2010 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament said, Government has promised to implement the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSP) in 2010 to increase productivity, pay decent wages and ensure equity in the Public Sector. The SSSP has been on the drawing board since 2007.
He revealed that a five-year Development Plan has been adopted by Government in which the first six months will be used to address some technical flaws to ensure that the SSSP does not re-introduce inequities.
Dr. Duffuor stressed that Government is very much aware of the high expectation of public sector workers with regard to the implementation of the SSSP. He announced that Government is taking steps to widen the consultation and dialogue with unionized labour and stakeholders to ensure SSSP is well executed.
He expressed Government’s preparedness to work with Labour and associations for collaborative partnership.
