BLACK STARS WELL DONE!

Parliamentarians today lauded the national sports team, the Black Stars for attaining the second position in the just ended Orange African Cup of Nations, the 27th edition dubbed Angola 2010. They described the team as young, determined, dedicated, committed, patriotic, rejuvenated, disciplined, united and resilient in spite of the circumstances surrounding their going into the tournament.

For Hon. Stephen Ackah, MP for Suaman and Chairman, Parliamentary Select Committee on Youth, Sports and Culture, the Black Stars has attained a ‘wonderful and unbelievable feat’ in the African Cup of Nations.

Hon. Isaac Asiamah, MP for Atwima-Mponua and Ranking Member, Parliamentary Select Committee on Youth, Sports and Culture commended the Ghana Football Association for being consistent and focus in their determination to achieve success, requesting that the technical team be maintained. He also suggested to Leadership to invite the Black Stars to Parliament for interaction with Members

The Minority Leader, Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu who also contributed to the debates, did not only commend the coach but also suggested that he be maintained, because in his view, he is competent.

The following reports were laid before the House by the Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Finance:

Report on the request for tax exemption amounting to US$1,200,702.00 on the oil and fuel in respect of the Ghana-China Bilateral Cooperation: Construction Contract for the China aided project for Teshie General Hospital.

Report on the Credit Facility Agreement between Agence Francaise de Development and the Government of the Republic of Ghana for an amount of thirty million Euros for financing the Awoshie-Pokuase Road Community Development Project.

Report on the Loan Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Ghana and Kreditanstalt Fur Wiederaufbau of Germany amounting to ten million Euros in support of the Outgrower and Value Chain Fund (OVCF).
