BINDURI POLYCLINIC PROJECT EARMARKED

The Minister of Health Mr. Benjamin Kumbuor says even though funding constraints has made it difficult to upgrade existing health centres into polyclinics; his Ministry is taking steps to upgrade the Health Centre at Binduri into a polyclinic to meet the health needs of the community as soon as funds are available.

He was answering a question posed by the MP for Binduri, Hon. Stephen Yakubu, who sought to know when the Polyclinic Project earmarked for Bawku Municipality and programmed to be cited at Binduri will commence.

Another question asked on behalf of Hon. Charles S. Hodogbey, MP for North Tongu, sought to know from the Health Minister when the Juapong Health Centre which started nearly eight years ago will be completed and made operational.

The Minister explained that the Juapong Health Centre project was started with funding from the Saudi Government but due to the slow pace of work by the contractor, the project could not be completed when the Saudi funding arrangement ran its terms. Unfortunately, it could not be extended, he added.

He nonetheless, assured the House that the Ministry’s priority in the 2010 Financial Year is to complete all projects which are near completion but abandoned due to budget constraints adding that Juapong Health Centre will also be completed.
